One major announcement that happened a few weeks back that took the entire world by surprise was that Apple and Google joined hands to fight the Coronavirus pandemic with the help of technology. At the time of the announcement, Google and Apple said that they were developing a coronavirus tracker that lets you detect Coronavirus infections around you to become aware of the same.

Also, they said that the tracker they will develop would work across Android and iOS, which should cover a vast majority of users in most parts of the world. Now, Google has revealed that its technology is in partnership with Apple to fight the pandemic, is ready. This technology developed by both companies relies on contact-tracing to understand if you have been in contact with someone who was diagnosed with COVID-19 later on. That will help you isolate yourself from others even though you might not show symptoms.
Technical details about a tracker
As far as the coronavirus tracker is concerned, it is not limited to an app or software since an entire API is available, and it is open-source, meaning that developers can integrate them anywhere in the world. People were also worried about their privacy due to this coronavirus tracker, which will be available on Android and iOS.
So Google and Apple have revealed that their technology is “designed to make these apps work better. Each user gets to decide whether or not to opt-in to Exposure Notifications; the system does not collect or use the location from the device; and if a person is diagnosed with COVID-19, it is up to them whether or not to report that in the public health app“. This technology is named Exposure Notifications API, which will send notifications to you if you have been exposed to a COVID patient.
